European University Alliances, Shaping Tomorrow's Research and Innovation

In view of the upcoming conclusion of the Circle U. ERIA project, it is a good time to reflect on its achievements and successes. The event will be streamed for online participation.

Conclusion of the ERIA project

In view of the upcoming conclusion of the Circle U. SwafS project “ERIA” (Empowering Research and Innovation Actions), it is a good time to reflect on its achievements and successes, as well as to consider the opportunities and challenges in the R&I sector that European University Alliances will face in the future. We will do so by hosting a dissemination event during which parties directly involved in the implementation of the project and interested stakeholders will come together to discuss the results and lessons learnt of the Circle U. ERIA project, with a keen eye on the future of R&I within the Alliances and their local ecosystems.

Strengthening the R&I dimension

With the ERIA project, Circle U. has aimed to strengthen the R&I dimension of the alliance by supporting activities in its Knowledge Hubs, empowering early-career researchers, and encouraging collaboration and innovation within Circle U. The institutional transformation of R&I at Circle U. universities is being concretely pursued through impactful actions, leading to the fulfilment of ERIA’s four key objectives:

  1. Fostering interdisciplinarity to co-construct solutions with other sectors
  2. Involving citizens and society in Research and Innovation
  3. Strengthening human capital and gender equality
  4. Structuring Research and Innovation collaboration at the European level

During a dynamic first session of the ERIA dissemination event, titled “Paving the way towards the future of R&I”, three key actors of the project will showcase the impactful activities that they implemented and explain how they contributed to the success of ERIA. They will then exchange with respondents from regional and European partners, as well as from other Alliances and organisations active in the Higher Education sector.

The second panel session, titled "Pushing the boundaries for R&I in the alliances and their local ecosystems”, will reflect on the future of R&I in the European University Alliances. The panel, composed of representatives of Circle U., fellow Alliances, and regional and European partners, will have the opportunity to discuss the future of R&I in the alliances, addressing the opportunities and challenges that lay on the way forward, at the local and European levels, and beyond.
